Two modes of high-frequency enhancement: program-dependent Presence EQ for clarity and air, or an Adaptive Harmonic Exciter that generates new harmonics from existing content for brightness no EQ can achieve.
The Presence stage uses program-dependent high-frequency enhancement that analyzes incoming content in real time. Dull spoken word gets assertive lift. Already-bright pop tracks get gentle treatment. Anti-harshness protection ensures the enhancement never crosses into sibilance territory — delivering clarity that's always musical, never fatiguing.
Presence works in concert with SmartBand EQ (stage 6). While the EQ handles tonal shaping, Presence adds air and clarity on top. The two stages are designed to complement each other, with ProcIQ coordinating their behavior to ensure they enhance rather than compete — delivering brilliance without excess.
For broadcast, Presence delivers voice clarity across all content types — from soft-spoken interviews to high-energy music. For producers, it adds air and presence on masters without reaching for a separate exciter. Positioned at stage 8, it benefits from the tonal foundation set by earlier stages and feeds clean, enhanced audio to the limiter.
Switch the Presence section to Adaptive Exciter mode for harmonic generation that goes beyond what EQ can do. An LR4 crossover extracts high-frequency content, an adaptive envelope normalizes its level, and 2× oversampled Chebyshev waveshaping generates harmonics that are mixed back with the original signal. The result is new brightness and air created from existing content.
Clarity, air, and brilliance — added intelligently, never excessively.
